Daggerheart (2025)

Overview

Daggerheart is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game published by Darrington Press, an imprint of Critical Role Productions. The game was released in 2025.

Description

Daggerheart is a story-docused role-playing game system, where the rules direct players to think narratively and not just mechanically. The game uses a system called Duality Dice, where players roll two twelve-sided dice. One for Hope and one for Fear. In addition to determining whether the character achieves success or fails at the action they are trying to perform, it also generates a helpful Hope resource for the player, or a challenging Fear resource for the game master (GM). Lead designer Spenser Starke explained that there is "also no initiative in Daggerheart". It functions very much like a

or a
Powered By The Apocalypse
game, where the GM is making moves on certain dice rolls and we're passing play back and forth as a conversation. It all flows together in a way that supports the storytelling-first direction that Critical Role has really embraced over the last decade". The game features 279 supplemental cards to track player abilities and characteristics. Darrington Press also launched several digital resources, including an online custom card creator.

Hi there. I’m based in the UK and potentially wanting to get a game started in either Daggerheart or DnD 5E (2014) to take place on Saturday evenings. Currently, I can’t lock in the exact schedule, but I’m thinking of it being for two consecutive Saturdays, followed by two Saturdays off each month. The time would likely be around 6-10PM UK time. A big part of this is me wanting to expand my social circle and to make some good friendships that aren’t just limited to time spent in TTRPGs. For the game itself, I’m leaning towards Daggerheart as something a bit more Rule of Cool-oriented, but this would be my first time with it. If people are good with that, and either new to the system themselves or patient for me to get fully to grips with running it, then we’ll lock that in. I’m very experienced with 5e 2014, but want to expand my repertoire a bit. The setting is a big mix of genres, but primarily Wild West with a lot of spooky and fantastical weirdness. I’d describe it as Weird West/ Gothic/ Horror/ Jazz Age/ Fantasy in a homebrew world. Characters may do things like uncover eldritch cults in the bayou, go on the trail of monsters out in the forests, and duel with undead gunslingers and the like. There are currently no big overarching plans such as a BBEG or end-goal, and I see the campaign being more about having fairly separate arcs and chapters that will have some links to each other, but that could all change based on player input. I want the players to tell me what sort of goals they want their characters to accomplish in the world. Although the setting doesn’t take itself too seriously, I want characters to be capable of being serious as well as being fun. Currently, I’d like the campaign to go for a few months, maybe about a year (which should take players from levels 1 to 10). What I’m looking for: - Enthusiastic and collaborative players, both with the party but also myself, letting me know what next big thing they want to do so I can properly put things in place to make it the best I can - Players interested in RP and creating a great story together where everyone has their moments to shine. I’m not looking for players who want to powergame or murderhobo, especially as the campaign would be broadly good-aligned - Players interested in the worldbuilding side of the hobby. I’m currently focusing on fleshing out the setting more than a grand overarching story, but I’d really like players to contribute to the setting - Reliable scheduling. I’m happy to occasionally run games with a couple of players missing, but mostly I’d like the whole party Once people are locked in to the campaign, we will have a proper session zero and go over safety tools. To clarify, there is no cost associated with this game. What you’ll need: Discord Mic and speakers for communication Roll 20 A Demiplane account (needed for Daggerheart)

the wondering riders of the in bewtween

Hello riders the names Soldier. I'm running a daggerheart campaign base on tokusatsue more around Kamen Rider with a hint of Sentai/powerrangers. The main focus of the story takes place in the world of Arasinda a world in the middle of some universes allowing them to connect with one another. Its thanks to Arasinda that these struggling universes were able to help one another to thrive. A casually traveling the multiverse to solve clues that couldn't be answered on Arasinda. Plot Once upon a time a good portion of the multiverse struggling to support themselves. Than from a mysterious chance Arasinda appeared allowing these struggling universes to help sustain each other. A organization was created to keep these universes have good terms and help when need they became known as MEIW ( Miniversal, E(i)nvolvement, Institution, Welfare). Now years later a unknown threat has appeared that threatens Arasinda. Their face never seen and followers across Arasinda and some through the multiverse. Now its up to the kamen riders to uncover this mystery and put a stop to their plan. Charter creating Creating a charter follows the usual charter creating rules of daggerheart with picking a universe your charter comes from so far there are 2 party members 1.Cyrus Helio- a college student at a university in Arasinda he is from a universe base on kamen rider ooos 2. Zeta- a amazon from a universe base on kamen rider Amazons(2016) If you haven't watch any kamen rider but feel interested to try this campaign i will be happy to explain each universe to the best of my knowledge Mechanics Finisher meter- along with the hope meter there will be a finisher meter you can charge with finishers are a stable in toku so having a meter to fill it would be fun while gaining a hope you have the choose of puting it in your hope meter of your finisher meter while you can hold 6 hope it be the same with this meter there will be other mechanics but those usally varey from player to player on what rider they pick Requirements My only requirements for this campaign is that be respectful to the other players and GM(myself) be at least 16 or older enjoy your time

Hey there!👋 I'm Thea (she/her), 37, UK-based, and I've been playing TTRPGs for 10+ years across a variety of systems. I'm primarily looking for a long-term, roleplay-focused campaign, ideally in D&D 5.5e, although I'm always happy to try something new if the game and group are a good fit. I've recently finished a three-year Fantasy Flight Star Wars campaign with an absolutely wonderful group of people, and I'm very much looking for the next table to get emotionally attached to. 🥲 How I Like to Play I'm very much a roleplay-first player. I love character-driven games where relationships actually matter and characters have the opportunity to grow, change, make mistakes and occasionally make spectacularly questionable decisions. My ideal game has a healthy mix of: 🎭 Heavy roleplay ❤️ Character development & relationships 📖 Collaborative storytelling ⚔️ Cinematic combat 🗺️ Exploring the world and its lore 🏰 Political & social intrigue 😂 Silly moments alongside serious ones ✨ Player choices that genuinely affect the story I particularly enjoy cinematic combat. I don't need every encounter to be mechanically complex, but I love those moments where everyone at the table can picture exactly what just happened. I'm less interested in crunch-heavy dungeon crawls where optimisation is the main focus. I don't mind some railroading when it serves the story, but I do want meaningful autonomy over my character and their decisions. 🧙 Character Concepts My favourite characters tend to be Warlocks, Half-Casters and Rogues, particularly because I enjoy having versatility and different ways to approach problems. I also really enjoy taking familiar fantasy tropes and twisting them sideways. I like characters with strong motivations, flaws, contradictions and relationships that can develop naturally throughout a campaign. That said, I'm very happy to create something specifically for the setting and party. I'm not precious about playing a particular class if there's something else that would make the group more interesting. High fantasy is probably my favourite setting, although I'm also very fond of traditional fantasy, steampunk and fantasy-adjacent settings. 🤝 What I Bring to a Table I'm an experienced player and have good table etiquette. More importantly, I'm a very engaged player. If you put plot in front of me, you gosh-damn know I'm going to bite that hook. I love getting invested in the world, the NPCs and — most importantly — the other player characters. One of my favourite things at a table is spotlighting other players. If I see an opportunity for another character to have their moment, I'll usually try to create space for it. I love watching people become comfortable enough to explore aspects of roleplay that they might not normally engage with. I'm also the sort of player who tends to build genuine friendships around a table. I'm invested in the people I'm playing with, not just the characters we're controlling. Basically, if we're playing together for long enough, there's a reasonably high chance I'll eventually ask whether you've eaten anything today and tell you to drink some water. 😂 🌈 The Table I'm Looking For I'm looking for an adult, friendly and inclusive table where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves. I'm particularly interested in LGBTQIA+ inclusive or LGBTQIA+-centred groups. I'm 37. I'm far too old and tired for table drama. That's not part of the campaign setting. I'm here to tell stories, make friends, laugh at terrible dice rolls and get emotionally destroyed by fictional characters. 🖤 Themes I'm Happy Exploring I'm comfortable with: Mature themes Romance Character death Darker settings and storylines Morally complicated characters Political/social intrigue Emotional character arcs 🚫 Things I'd Prefer to Avoid Adversarial PvP Loss of player autonomy Extremely over-the-top horror Anything excessively explicit/spicy I'm absolutely fine with mature themes and romance, but fade-to-black is my preferred approach for anything particularly spicy. 🎲 What I'm Looking For System: D&D 5.5e preferred, open to other systems Format: Online Campaign: Long-term preferred Frequency: Weekly preferred Session Length: 3–4 hours Group Size: 4–6 players preferred Timezone: UK / GMT / BST Availability Monday–Friday: 6pm–10pm UK time Saturday–Sunday: 9am–10pm UK time I'm fairly flexible within those windows and can potentially accommodate different schedules depending on the group. Ultimately, I'm looking for a group of people who want to tell a really good story together. I don't need every session to be epic. Sometimes I want to save the kingdom; sometimes I want to spend an hour in a tavern discovering that the party's Rogue has somehow acquired a chicken. If the characters have room to breathe, the players care about each other, the GM enjoys saying "Oh... that's interesting" when we make a terrible decision, and everyone is there to have a genuinely good time, I'm probably going to have a wonderful time too. ❤️

Brotherhood of the Dice

TTRPG

Brotherhood of the Dice is a group of friends who get together to play tabletop RPGs, mostly leaning into horror with a sprinkling of fantasy and sci-fi. We run games like Call of Cthulhu, Mothership, The Dee Sanction, Dead of Night, Electric State, Pirate Borg, Dragonbane, and Outgunned, throwing in the occasional curveball with something more quirky like Land of Eem when we feel like changing things up. As most of our games lean heavily into horror, they tend to favour a serious tone, but when things go off the rails, chaos and hilarity are never far behind. Which is just part of the fun. Nothing is scripted, and we’re not performers, just regular people enjoying games together and letting the dice and the story take us where they will. /images/general-media/1774008789_ZfvlFW0K.png We stream live on Twitch three times a week and upload the sessions to YouTube afterwards.
