Description

Put the premise of 2023's Oppenheimer into the body-horror genre and add the apocalypse: welcome to this homebrew campaign! Trifling with the afterlife created a world where the dead have nowhere to go, and have nothing to separate them from the living. Desperate to survive, kingdoms across the realm have consolidated into single capitals, each self-sufficiently sustaining whole populations—until resources run low. Enter a character-driven tale teetering along political tensions, espionage, social status, omnipresent threats, and above all, control over your body! For this campaign, I’m looking for a party of 5 to 6 people (8 people maximum) interested in a continental, discovery-focused narrative. Meeting times for sessions will depend on everyone’s availability and pre-existing commitments. Discord will be used for whole-group and direct messaging. Our initial sessions will be for deep-dives into the story and worldbuilding, then for party composition and character creations; personal backstories will be developed separately, though prompts and helpful considerations will be released! This campaign uses Foundry vtt, but no costs or fees are required otherwise. This will be a horror- and dark-fantasy-based campaign that relies heavily on consequence and conflict. Obviously, death has a substantial role in this story, so players should not expect to get comfortable for too long. That said, I’m not a DM too fond of permanently killing off PCs on a whim, so let this be of some comfort! Your characters will enter the campaign through the urban and inner-city settings, where you will get a taste of the apocalyptic, survivalist lifestyle common throughout the realm. The story will begin in one of the six major capitals, each with their own agendas and allegiances and rivalries (all of which I will delineate in our initial sessions). Major themes include espionage and political conflicts (often turning into militaristic endeavors and advances), not to mention the overarching thread of escaping an afterlife spillover! Below are some concepts and terms worth familiarizing your character with: The Recrudescence—the day when the afterlife entered the material plane. The exact date is unknown, but most of the realm learned of the afterlife spillover by the end of the summer season. The Shared Sea—the body of water connecting all parts of the realm. The landmass can be visualized as a giant horseshoe or a ring, the middle of which is all water/ocean (hence, the ‘Shared’ Sea). The Storm—principal and largest (and most feared) cluster of afterlife spirits; most easily depicted as a colossal hurricane bouncing from city to city along the Shared Sea. Wandering Spirits—souls/spirits that once belonged to a deceased creature, now searching for a new host (i.e., the body of a living creature);—includes both the souls within Storm and individual or grouped Displaced. Displaced—wandering spirits not part of the Storm. Displaced spirits and the activity thereof attract other Displaced, hence why people are afraid of drawing any attention. Jumpscares—In the event that a creature dies, other adjacent creatures may undergo a jumpscare, during which their spirits (of the living creatures) eject from their host bodies as if being displaced. Jumpscares do not result from displacement, but rather from the death of a host body. For example, if a character kills one creature in a group, the rest of that group may experience jumpscares and have their spirits ejected. Every living creature has the capacity for one soul (without amalgamating, turning malignant, or ascending). A displaced can steal your body and eject your original soul, which in turn becomes displaced. Finally, wandering spirits cannot linger in place or around the creatures whose bodies they failed to assimilate!  If any of this interests you, visit the interest form below to (a) get a more thorough view of what this campaign seeks and (b) further indicate your interest in this grandiose adventure! - Log in to view

Hey hi hello, y'all! My name is Po and I'm looking to play a semi-historic campaign with a little fantasy elements imbued into it! The party is going to be a American military specialist unit that has been brought into the Vietnam war to combat violent and powerful spiritual entities that are attacking soldiers and civilians alike. It's inspired by Jujutsu Kaisen and will be using my own homebrew system I've developed through original techniques and cherry-picking parts I like from others I've seen. It is subject to change as the campaign develops but I'm pretty confident in it so far. You'll be starting at level 3 as you'll all be somewhat experienced soldiers before you've awaken your unique exorcist abilities. We are planning to play on Sundays at 7-10/11 PM EST but that can change if we can find a better date. I'm looking for roughly third players but I wouldn't mind a fourth if I can find one. However, I'm hoping to keep the game 18+ not due to sexual content but more as a personal rule.  So if you're interested submit an application and we can begin discussing it. If I'm willing to go further, we'll move to Discord to conduct an interview.

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Elaria: Breaking the Chains Elaria is a land of powerful kingdoms, ancient magic, and prosperity built upon slavery. Humans, orcs, beastkin, prisoners, and countless others are bought and sold while those in power grow wealthy from their suffering. Within the slaves social circle classes have been established, the house slaves see themselves as better then those who work the grounds and so on. The party begins as ordinary adventurers with no army, rebellion, or grand destiny. But as they travel across Elaria and witness the cruelty of its kingdoms, they will have opportunities to fight back. You will not start in a inn or town, it will be a suprise Freeing a few slaves can become rescuing a village. A rescued village can become allies. Allies can become soldiers and soldiers can become a rebellion. The players will build that rebellion themselves—recruiting allies, establishing bases, gathering resources, liberating territory, and deciding how far they are willing to go to end slavery. Eventually, Elaria's kings will learn their names. The only question is whether history will remember them as heroes, rebels, or something far more dangerous.

Planescape Campaign

Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
Hello all, I'm Jon the DM and we're looking for players local to Indianapolis to join our new Planescape campaign. I'm a seasoned DM of 15 years, currently in my 30s looking for like minded players to round out our group. Our group is a cluster of folks in their 30s whose DnD experience varies across the board.  I tend to run narrative/character driven games regardless of the setting or system punctuated by high stakes and action with time for RP throughout. I craft and 3D print my own terrain and minis, and my lovely girlfriend is usually the painter but I'm working to improve! We're looking to play biweekly, Sundays from 12-6pm every other Sunday. I'll host at my home on the East side of Indianapolis. Feel free to reach out with any questions, looking forward to hearing from you! The Game Pitch: Plucked from the Prime, you find your very existence questioned in the balance of the Cosmic Wheel. What you believe doesn't just change your mind, it changes the Planes. You wake up in Sigil, the City of Doors, a floating metropolis built on the inside of a massive ring hovering above infinity. Here at the center of all things, every angel, demon, and philosophy has a doorstep. Each alleyway contains a door to a different plane of existence, if you have the key. And berk, you don't know the dark of it!         Tone/Inspiration: Disco Elysium, Kill Six Billion Demons, Neverwhere, Labyrinth, Planescape: Torment (duh)
