Savage Worlds (2018)

Overview

Savage Worlds is a tabletop roleplaying game designed by Shane Lacy Hensley and published by Pinnacle Entertainment Group. Originally released in 2003 and updated, as the Adventure Edition in 2018. Its a universal system for running games in almost any genre from weird west and high fantasy to deep space sci-fi. The game is specifically engineered to handle cinematic pulp action and massive battles without slowing down the narrative. The system it directly evolved from is
Deadlands (1996)
Description Savage Worlds has everything you need to play narrative or miniature-based games, with quick, simple, yet comprehensive rules for everything from combat to Dramatic Tasks, Chases, and Interludes. The emphasis is on less bookkeeping for the Game Master so she can quickly and easily create worlds and adventures for any setting and focus on the players and their actions to keep the action and story rocketing along. System Overview & Key Features
Step Dice Mechanic Instead of fixed numeric modifiers, character attributes and skills are rated by die types, ranging from a four sided die (d4) to a twelve sided die (d12). To succeed at a task, a player rolls their skill die and tries to hit a standard target number, which is almost always a 4.
The Wild Die Player characters and major non player characters get to roll an extra six sided die called the Wild Die whenever they make a trait test. They roll this alongside their standard skill die and take the higher of the two results, significantly increasing their baseline competence.
Acing (Exploding Dice) If any die rolls its maximum possible value, such as rolling an 8 on an eight sided die, the die "aces". The player gets to roll that die again and add the new value to the total. This can chain multiple times, allowing for massive, cinematic successes against all odds.
Initiative with Playing Cards Instead of rolling dice for turn order, combat initiative is tracked using a standard deck of playing cards with the Jokers left in. This makes tracking turn order incredibly fast and visually clear. Drawing a Joker grants that character a powerful bonus to all their rolls for that round.

Campaigned aimed at mature Players, but opened to all experience levels. Session Time: 8PM EDT/EST Thursday System: Savage Worlds Adventure Platforms Used: Discord, Roll20 Travel the Continent ravaged by war and another conjunction of spheres. World needs heroes like never before, but really best it can hope for, are people trying their best in a shitty situation. If someone enjoys the Witcher games, books and probably not as much with the Netflix series that's the right address. I want to capture more role play heavy, character oriented style of this world. Somewhat on the darker side but in no ways devoid of dry humor and tinge of idealistic optimism. More detail under Campaign Link

Hey all, wondering if anyone would be interested in a Savage Worlds game? I’ve played in a couple of campaigns of it and wanted to run a game myself. I’ve been running various TTRPGs for about a decade now and wanted to give running Savage Worlds a try. We’ll start online and, if it seems a good fit, meet at my flat over Partick way. I’m a pretty story/character focused guy, and I’ve got a bunch of campaign ideas across various settings, so anyone looking to play Savage Worlds or just something that isn’t D&D, give me a poke.

Hi, my name's Ensley (he/him) and I guess at this point it's fair to call me a grognard, but not one of those grognards - I'm a cishet man in my mid-50s, and I have zero problems/issues with pronouns or LGBTQIA folks, I'm politically progressive, and believe Nazis should be punched. Repeatedly. That's as clear as I can make all of that, I think. I've been playing ttrpgs since the early 1980s starting off with the original AD&D, Star Frontiers, Marvel FACERIP, and the the rest of the TSR lineup, and over the years I've played a LOT of diferent systems, genres, and settings - various editions of Call of Cthulhu, FATE, Savage Worlds, Mothership, Star Trek (in various system including 2d20 STA), PbtA, etc., etc. Recently I've been playing Draw Steel, Triangle Agency, War Stories, and Lex Arcana. I'm pretty burnt out with traditional high fantasy games, and enjoy trying out new systems (hence the "newbie" tag in a lot of the experience listings above). In terms of playstyle, I like solid roleplay opportunities mixed with medium-crunch mechanical & combat support. I can get realy bored with a classic dungeon crawl really quick (I will inevitably Leroy Jenkins that crap after the fifth time someone elaborately checks a door for traps). So, yeah - that's me. Thanks for reading and feel free to reach out.
