Rollful

A hosted dice-rolling API powered by OpenDice. Roll dice anywhere, and show the work.

Overview

Rollful is a hosted dice-rolling API. It rolls dice over HTTP: a request carries a formula, and Rollful parses it, rolls each die through a cryptographically secure generator, and returns every die it rolled rather than only the total. It is not tied to any game system. It knows what 4d6kh3 means and nothing about what the caller uses it for, so it suits a virtual tabletop, a character sheet, a Discord bot, or anything else that needs a roll it can show the working for. The formula grammar covers flat modifiers, advantage and disadvantage, keeping the highest or lowest dice, exploding and penetrating dice, multipliers, several terms in one roll, and tags. The response lists every die with a flag saying which ones counted, so an interface can show the die a keep rule dropped instead of hiding it. A GET request handles a plain formula. POST adds bonuses and tags, and a batch endpoint takes up to 20 rolls in one request. Every response and error has the same documented shape, described by an OpenAPI 3.1 document. There is no account and no API key. Usage is rate limited rather than metered. The homepage carries a form for rolling dice straight from the browser. Rollful is powered by the OpenDice npm package, which is free to use directly in any JavaScript or TypeScript project.

Actual Play
Yes we get it! It's yet another podcast of people playing Dungeons and Dragons. Where do we differ from others? Maybe we don't., maybe we do. That will yet remain to be seen. What we are is a small group of friends whom seek to bring our game to listeners and share our experience with the gaming community. We are 4 people, one with over 40 years of playing experience who has literally played every edition of the game since 1979. Another who has been playing for just over 20 years and 2 more rather new players who have only experienced 5e. We will be using mainly 2014 5e rules ,yet there will be scatterings and dashes of rulings and inclusions from Advanced D&D - 3.5. While ignoring the fact the 4E ever existed. All that said we will be bringing some great home brewed traditions to the mic as well as making some of it up as we go... World of Darkness

TTRPG
World of Darkness is a shared-universe brand of gothic horror tabletop RPGs created by Mark Rein-Hagen and launched by White Wolf Publishing in 1991 with Vampire: The Masquerade, whose rulebook coined the term "Gothic-Punk" to describe the whole project's look and feel. Over the following four years the line expanded into a family of games sharing the same Storyteller System and the same continuity - Werewolf: The Apocalypse (1992), Mage: The Ascension (1993), Wraith: The Oblivion (1994), and Changeling: The Dreaming (1995) - plus historical spin-offs exploring the same monsters in earlier centuries.  That original 13-year continuity closed out in 2004 with a scripted apocalyptic finale, the same year White Wolf launched a rebooted, standalone line on a new streamlined engine, later renamed Chronicles of Darkness in 2015 to keep it distinct from the original. Ownership of the brand has passed from White Wolf (1991-2006) to CCP Games (2006-2015) to Paradox Interactive (2015-present); today Onyx Path Publishing, staffed largely by former White Wolf developers, continues both the classic 20th Anniversary lines and Chronicles of Darkness, while Paradox's modern flagship 5th-edition titles - Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Hunter: The Reckoning - are published mainly through Renegade Game Studios.
