Tomb of annihalation

This is a tomb of annihalation campaign that is being run by me. I am a 42 yo semi new dm who has ran curse of strahd, out of the abyss, and currently running 2 seperate odyssey of the dragon lords campaigns. I am by no means a professional, and some downtime for me to learn some rules or make decisions is to be expected. I cannot say I prepare for every particular scenario so sometimes I wing it, but I try my best to give players an enjoyable time. I do not tolerate table hogs, people who talk over others, or are intolerant of other people. I do not charge as I am again not a professional in terms of understanding all spells, all game mechanics, etc. this is a campaign using extra modules to help facilitate some aspects of the game to try and streamline some processes. I have not started the campaign and am not 100% sure of the date of a session zero until I have a group of people I may find mesh well in order to make the game more enhoyable so if you message me, please be patient and understand that. I plan on a total group of roughly 5 players. 1 spot has already been claimed by a player from one of my other campaigns.  Game is played on foundry using discord, I do not use cam, and sessions are recorded but not posted online for other viewing, it is strictly for creating recaps and in case anyone missed anything.

Another Story: Fragmented Memories

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
This story takes place in the pseudo-theocratic nation of Tenkaisei, the Land of Star and Stone, where the guidance of the heavens directly influences daily life. The ruler, known simply as the Dawn Empress, serves as both political sovereign and divine intermediary, believed to be chosen by celestial forces to maintain harmony between the heavens and the earth. Her rule is guided by the Heavenspiral, six divine pillars whose domains govern the fundamental principles of existence. Their influence reaches beyond religious practice, shaping the nation's laws, traditions, and understanding of the natural order. As a result, Tenkaisei is not strictly a political power, but a spiritual epicenter where faith and governance are inseparably intertwined. Beneath this carefully maintained order, the nation is far from united. Tenkaisei stands equally divided between the Impyreal Sovereignty, which upholds the Dawn Empress and the divine right of celestial authority, and the Stormlord Territory, whose legacy favors strength earned through action rather than bestowed through birthright. Their ideological divide has fostered generations of tension, leaving the nation vulnerable to conflict and uncertainty. Although both sides claim to understand what is necessary for Tenkaisei's future, neither can afford to ignore the fragile balance that holds the realm together. That balance is now beginning to falter. Across the nation, the shrines dedicated to the Heavenspiral are experiencing disturbances that threaten their ancient purpose. These sanctuaries are more than places of worship; they serve as vital connections between the celestial powers and the mortal world, preserving the influence of the divine within Tenkaisei. As their protections weaken, the consequences begin to reach beyond temple grounds, manifesting in spiritual unrest, unnatural phenomena, and disruptions to the natural order. What once seemed like isolated misfortunes increasingly suggests a greater crisis. One that threatens the foundations of the nation's faith and the stability it has long taken for granted. The party has been drawn into this unfolding crisis, traveling between sacred sites to investigate the disturbances and restore what has been lost. Each shrine presents its own trials, reflecting the divine principle it was built to uphold. The party must contend with ancient traditions, conflicting interpretations of the divine, and the consequences of a world whose safeguards are no longer dependable. With every discovery, the importance of the shrines becomes clear. In a nation where the heavens are believed to guide mortal affairs, the weakening of their shrines raises a troubling question: if the divine order can no longer protect the world as it once did, what will become of the people who have built their lives around its guidance?

Cos and beyond

I’m the DM for our Sunday night group. Our group recently lost one of our players. We are looking for a replacement who will fit into the table. Current campaign is CoS. We’re about half way through. The first thing to note is you should be looking for a table/group, not a game. Yes, we’re of course running a campaign right now. But the idea is we’ll be doing future campaigns as well. We have a good group going, get along well, mesh well, and I put it together with the intent of being a group of friends gaming rather than a group of randos playing a campaign. (We all did meet here in LFG). So preference actually goes to people for whom this would be the only game you’ll be in versus people in 6 games a week. On that note, experience doesn’t matter. Heck, in some ways less can be better. We don’t need a professional player. Meshing with everyone as a player is 100% what we’re looking for. So what will help you mesh the best? Here’s a few quick bullets: - Women preferred. The person who dropped out was a woman. We’d like to keep the same dynamics if possible. We are currently 3 women, 2 guys. - You should like story telling role play. Note this may be different than just role playing a character. Here’s a test: you come upon a tower in the forest, inside of which is your objective. The DM asks you to describe the tower to the group and explain what is stopping you from just walking in. If that sounds like “work” to you or there’s a bit of “that’s what the DM is for.” I get it. But you’ll probably find our play style tedious and exhausting. We are definitely not a “just get to the action” type of group. - Age: be 30+. We’re all 30+ with kids, careers, lives, etc. For multiple reasons you being in the same boat will make everyone have more fun (including you). - Have some tech ability or ability to learn. You don’t need to be a tech guru. But if you haven’t grasped the basics of the VTT by session 5 or so we can’t stop to help you out every time it’s your turn. We use FG. Powerful for DMs (yay me), not the most user-friendly UI/UX. - No goofy shit for characters, etc. No hate on that type of play, just not what we’re doing in this group. Think more GoT type play than “I ride around as a mushroom person on my tiny pet squirrel” type of play. - Enjoy a more hardcore style of play rather than typical power fantasy of 5e. Magic is toned down significantly. Long rests are rare. Much more gritty feeling than standard DnD. If you play DnD just to roll some dice and kill some orcs to blow off steam, you won’t enjoy our game. This is more like “my character is always on 2 levels of exhaustion, my spell slots are burned, I don’t have any potions, and now I’m supposed to go dive into this creepy dungeon???? Wtf!?” - Be ok with natural consequences and a DM who may say “no” to things. Not to kill creativity, but just like no, you can’t charm the king into letting you go free after you just killed his daughter. There’s no scenario that exists that will get you out of the predicament you’re currently in based on your choices. How the story develops from here (see the role play above) is yet to be seen. If this sounds like fun or your kind of group, or you just want to hear more, hit me up.
